In order to establish a fully automated data transfer between the machine computer and HarvestSync, some configuration is require in the machine computer to share the folders where the files are stored.
Depending on the Windows version of the harvester this steps can be a little bit different. Please follow the steps of the Windows version of your harvester:
The first step is to share the folder(s) where the file(s) are stored in the machine computer. Each manufacturer has a default location where these folder(s) are stored.
The files are generally always stored within the Local Disk C: of the machine computer. To quickly access this you can select the windows and E key on the keyboard of the machine computer. Then select the Local Disk C: and the relevant directory below.
Some typical default folder locations are:
John Deere: C:/TIMBERMATIC FILES or C:/TIMBERMATIC
Komatsu: C:\Data
Ponsse: "C:\Program Files\Optiwin\OptiData\workareas"
*Note; It is important that the user understands where the files are stored. For more information on where the files are stored please refer to the Harvester Configuration section.
1:ENSURE THE FOLDER OPTIONS
Before starting with the file sharing ensure that the options of the harvester for the sharing are the correct ones.
1. Go to "start" in the button-left corner.
2. Find Settings
3. Go to "Control Panel" and enter on it.
4. Go to "Appearance and Themes" 5. Go to "Folder Options"
7.Go to "View" tab
6. Make sure that the Option "Use simple file Sharing (Recommended)" is deactivated.
Is is activated, deactivate
Is is deactivated, leave at it is.
2: SELECT FOLDER FOR SHARING
Select the Folder containing the files you require
1. Go to the folder that you want to share and right click on the folder. A drop-down list will appear.
2. Select "Properties" at the bottom of the list.
After the selection of Properties. A Data Properties window will appear with a selection of tabs.
3. Please Select the "Sharing" Tab
4. After this sharing tab is selected:
Tick "Share this folder" option ( be sure that the name of the shared folder is the folder with the production data)
Click on "Permissions"
5. In the section "Group or user names"
Click "Add"
6. In the text window. Enter the name for the new TM user you created before: So type in "Everyone"
7. Press "Check Names" button.
8. The "Everyone" user is going to appear after the checking.
Ensure that is the Everyone user.
Click "OK"
Now, in the Group or user names window the new Everyone user is going to appear.
6. Please Select Everyone
7. The Permissions for Everyone needs to be updated by selecting Allow for the following permissions:
Please tick
Full control
Change
Read
8. Press "APPLY"
Then:
9. Press "OK"
This will return you to the Advanced Sharing Window.
3. SECURITY FOR DATA PROPERTIES
The security permissions also needs to be updated.
1. Select the "Security Tab"
2. Select the "Add" button
6. In the text window. Enter the name for the new TM user you created before: So type in Everyone
7. Press "Check Names" button.
8. The Everyone user is going to appear after the checking.
Ensure that is the Everyone user.
Click "OK"
8. Select the Everyone User from the list.
(In the Permissions for Everyone User window it can be seen that not all functions are allowed. These need to be updated)
9. It is important that ALL the Allow buttons are ticked.
10. Press "Apply"
11. Then press "OK"
6. Finally, Close the Data Properties Window to finish.
4. TEST THAT SHARING WAS SUCCESSFUL
Open the Windows File Explorer, and select "My Network Places"
Quick tip: Windows File Explorer can be found by clicking the Windows and E key on the keyboard (Win +E)
The shared folders should be listed ( As there is the data folder in the image)
